Marriage is the union of two people in a personal connection who are legally or formally acknowledged as partners. A marriage certificate is a proof document of your marriage by the government. Couples who have married through special social/religious ceremonies must register their marriage in order for it to be legally recognized. They must make an application to their permanent resident's ward office. They should submit the evidence related to marriage done through religious rituals.
Required Documents
- Original and copy of Citizenship of married couple
- Two passport size photo of a married couple (two each)
- Migration Certificate ( बसाई सराई दर्ता प्रमाण पत्र ) only needed if your permanent address is different from citizenship's address.
- Photos of a married couple of their wedding for proof.
- The token number from donidcr.gov.np
The whole process of registering for a marriage certificate takes 1 day to complete if you fill the form correctly and if you have all the required documents with you. Following are the steps to follow.
- Go to your web browser and enter donidcr.gov.np
- Click
अनलाईन घटना दर्ता (निवेदन) and fill the required form - Get a token number from the site and keep it safe.
Now
- Go to the ward office (both husband & wife) and ask for the marriage certification form (picture as below).
- Fill the form and attach the required documents and get verified by the chief head.
- Go to the printing section of the ward office and provide them with the token number and the documents.
- Paste your photos to the certificate, pay the fee, and get signed by the ward chief head to your certificate.
